Quick answer

**Vidyard** is our top pick for most people. Vidyard is the pick if you run a sales or revenue team that sends personal video to prospects and customers and wants to know who watched. Starter is where it becomes a real product, with unlimited recording, viewer and team analytics, hosting and a branded sharing page. Budget for Teams if the watch data has to land in Salesforce or HubSpot, and look elsewhere for a paid-traffic sales letter.

* **Vidyard.** Best for revenue-team video messages with watch data. Has a free tier.

You heard Vidyard named on a sales podcast or in an SDR playbook, and the worry is the usual one: will the seats sit unused, or is this the wrong tool for how you sell? Vidyard is a working product with a large review base: its pricing page cites a 4.5 rating from more than 700 G2 reviews. It sells video to revenue teams: personal video messages, hosting, hubs and an AI Video Agent, pitched on its homepage as video that is "personal, trackable, and embedded in your tools." It is a recorder and library for reps who send video to prospects and customers and want to know who watched.

The part buyers miss is where each feature sits. The free plan is a recording trial with no hosting. Starter is the first plan that does the full job, with unlimited recording, viewer and team analytics, hosting and a branded sharing page. The sync that pushes watch data into Salesforce, HubSpot or Marketo waits for Teams, which is priced by a sales call. So the real question behind "is Vidyard worth it" is whether your team will pay per seat on the tier that includes the CRM sync.

What it is not is a player for a sales letter on a landing page. If you buy paid traffic to a VSL, read the sections below on alternatives before you book a demo. If you are choosing between two recorders, [compare Vidyard and Loom](/compare/vidyard-vs-loom) first.

##### What works

* Per-viewer analytics show who opened a video and how long they watched, which reviewers name as the reason they stay
* Starter adds hosting, a branded sharing page, CTA templates and password-protected videos to unlimited recording
* Team performance analytics let a sales manager see which reps' videos get watched
* The Video Agent add-on generates automated AI videos per seat for scaled outreach
* A free plan with no card lets a rep try recording before anyone signs a contract

##### What to watch

* Per-seat licensing means the bill grows with every rep you add, and some sales ops users call it overpriced
* CRM and marketing-automation sync starts on Teams, which has no public price. Starter users export watch data by hand
* Reviewers report the Chrome add-in sometimes fails, and reps record from the browser
* The free plan caps recording at five videos a month and does not host them
* It has no sound-first autoplay, purchase-scored split test or cart postback, so a paid-traffic VSL needs a different player

### Vidyard features: what a sales team actually gets

The homepage organises the product into three jobs, and each one opens on a different plan.

* **Video messages.** A rep records screen, camera or both and drops the video into an email, a LinkedIn message or a sales engagement sequence. Every plan can record. Free stops at five recordings a month of up to 30 minutes each, and Starter removes the cap.
* **Hosting and viewer data.** Starter adds hosting, a branded sharing page, password-protected videos and CTA templates, plus full video analytics and team performance analytics. This is where a rep learns who opened the video and how far they got, and where a manager sees whose videos get watched.
* **Video Agent.** An add-on, sold per seat, that generates and sends AI video automatically. Vidyard names Salesloft, Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo and Zapier as the places those workflows run. On Free you get 15 AI videos a month to try it.

Teams is the plan the CRM story depends on. It adds two data integrations for CRM and marketing automation, plus hubs, and Enterprise lifts the integration limit. A Starter team still has the analytics. Getting them into the CRM record is a manual step until it upgrades.

None of this is built for a direct-response funnel. Vidyard's pages describe personal outreach and pipeline signals. They do not describe sound-first autoplay, a split test judged on purchases or a conversion postback to an ad platform, which are the features VSLBench scores [VSL players like Vidalytics](/reviews/vidalytics) on.

#### What users actually say about Vidyard

Research: unverified

##### Knowing who watched is the reason teams keep it ↑ frequently praised

Reviewers value the per-viewer analytics: who opened a video and how long they watched. That signal is what the vendor sells as trackable video for revenue teams.

> “Vidyard helps revenue teams scale trust at every stage of the customer journey with AI-powered video that's personal, trackable, and embedded in your tools.”

Anonymous [Blog: Vidyard homepage (vendor) ](https://www.vidyard.com/) Oct 2026

> “We have seen good response and love the analytics showing who watched what and for how long.”

Anonymous [Capterra: Vidyard reviews on Capterra ](https://www.capterra.com/p/125653/Vidyard/reviews/) Oct 2026

##### Cold email video does not always get played ↓ common complaint

Sales ops users report that many buyers block external images and do not play videos in cold email, so the recording only pays off where the prospect already engages.

> “Most buyers have started to block external images, don't play the videos now.”

Anonymous [Reddit: Loom, Vidyard, other? (r/SalesOperations) ](https://www.reddit.com/r/SalesOperations/comments/1irmnb6/loom%5Fvidyard%5Fother/) Oct 2026

##### The Chrome extension is the weak link ↓ common complaint

TrustRadius reviewers say the Chrome add-in sometimes fails, which matters because reps record and insert videos from the browser.

> “The add-in for Chrome sometimes doesn't work.”

Anonymous [Blog: Vidyard reviews on TrustRadius ](https://www.trustradius.com/products/vidyard/reviews) Oct 2026

##### Per seat price and CRM sync gated to Teams ↓ common complaint

Vidyard licenses per seat, and its own pricing table shows CRM and marketing-automation data integrations only from Teams up. Some sales ops users call it overpriced and point to Loom for internal and support video.

> “We keep it simple with straightforward per-seat licensing and a commitment to transparency.”

> “Data Integrations | No | No | 2 | Unlimited”

### What users say

The praise is about the signal. A Capterra reviewer sums up why teams keep paying: "We have seen good response and love the analytics showing who watched what and for how long." That is the product doing its job, telling a rep which prospect is warm enough to call.

The complaints fall into three groups. The tooling: a TrustRadius reviewer reports that "the add-in for Chrome sometimes doesn't work," and the browser is where most reps record. The channel: on r/SalesOperations one user warns that "most buyers have started to block external images, don't play the videos now," so cold email is the weakest place to spend a seat. The price: in a Loom-versus-Vidyard thread on the same forum, another writes, "Stay away from vidyard. It's way overpriced." Read the last one against your own use. A team that sends video to warm pipeline gets more from each seat than one blasting cold lists.

### Pricing

Vidyard pricing is per seat. Starter has a public price, and the two plans above it are quoted by sales.

| Plan | Per seat, monthly | Per seat, annual | What it unlocks |
| ------------------ | ----------------- | ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | $0 | $0 | 5 recorded and 15 AI videos a month, up to 30 minutes each. No hosting, no card |
| Starter | $89 | $59 | Unlimited recording, hosting, full video and team analytics, branded sharing page, basic CTAs. 14-day trial |
| Teams | By quote | By quote | Two CRM or marketing-automation data integrations. Vidyard pitches it at teams of five or more |
| Enterprise | By quote | By quote | Unlimited data integrations |
| Video Agent add-on | $29 | $24 | Unlimited automated AI video, on top of a Starter seat |

Two things make the real bill larger than the Starter row. Every rep is a seat, so a ten-person team pays ten times over. And the CRM sync most sales teams expect is a Teams feature, with a price you only learn on a call. Ask the rep for Teams per seat on annual and monthly terms, the number of integrations included, and the Video Agent rate on Teams.

The [Vidyard pricing page](/reviews/vidyard/pricing) keeps the plan facts in one place for later reference.

### Is Vidyard worth it?

Yes for an SDR or BDR team that already runs video in its sequences and sells into warm or semi-warm pipeline. The viewer alerts tell a rep when to follow up, team analytics show a manager who is getting watched, and Teams puts that data on the CRM record. Plan on Teams from the start if the CRM is where your team lives, and get its quote before you compare seat prices.

No for a direct-response marketer running cold paid traffic to a long sales letter. Vidyard has no sound-first autoplay, no split test judged on sales and no cart postback. The [Vidalytics review](/reviews/vidalytics) and the [VTurb review](/reviews/vturb) cover players built for that job.

It is also the wrong buy for a marketing team that only needs videos embedded on its own site. A per-seat recorder is the wrong price model for a library, and the [Wistia review](/reviews/wistia) covers a host built around marketing embeds and lead capture.

### Vidyard alternatives, by the job you are leaving it for

Teams leave Vidyard for two reasons: the per-seat bill, or the discovery that their video does a different job from one-to-one outreach. Pick the replacement by the job.

* **Wistia, for a marketing library that feeds the CRM.** Branded embeds, in-player forms and HubSpot and Marketo sync, priced by plan instead of by rep. Read the [Wistia review](/reviews/wistia), and the [Wistia alternatives](/alternatives/wistia) if that is also a stretch.
* **Vidalytics, for a paid-traffic sales letter.** Smart autoplay, timed calls to action and split tests scored on sales. See the [Vidalytics review](/reviews/vidalytics).
* **VTurb, for a VSL player with deep styling.** Popular with Latin American direct-response teams. The [VTurb review](/reviews/vturb) covers the thin English-language track record.
* **Voomly, for a cheap marketer-run funnel host.** In-video squeeze pages and branching closers. Mind the billing complaints in the [Voomly review](/reviews/voomly).
* **Spotlightr, for gated course and lead-capture video.** Encrypted hosting, email and paywall gates. See the [Spotlightr review](/reviews/spotlightr).
* **Vimeo, for general professional hosting.** An ad-free player and per-seat plans without the sales tooling. Read the [Vimeo review](/reviews/vimeo).

If you still want a rep recorder and mainly object to the price, the cheaper option on most shortlists is Loom. The [Vidyard vs Loom comparison](/compare/vidyard-vs-loom) sets out what you give up in sales analytics.

### Changelog

* 11 Oct 2026, first published as a short summary alongside the Vidyard and Loom comparison.

### Frequently asked questions

Does Vidyard have a free plan?

Yes. It needs no card and allows five recorded videos and 15 AI videos a month. Videos are not hosted on it, so treat it as a recording trial.

What does Vidyard cost per user?

Starter has a public per-seat price, shown in the table above, with a lower rate on annual billing. Teams and Enterprise are quoted by sales.

Does Vidyard integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot?

Yes, from Teams up. Vidyard's plan table gives Teams two data integrations and Enterprise unlimited. Starter has none.

Is Vidyard good for video sales letters?

No. It is made for reps sending personal video one prospect at a time. A sales letter on a landing page needs autoplay with a sound prompt and split tests judged on purchases, which VSL players such as Vidalytics and VTurb are built around.

Vidyard or Wistia?

Vidyard if reps record and send video to named prospects. Wistia if a marketing team publishes a library on its website and wants leads captured from it.
