Head to head

Voomly vs Doodly

Doodly draws the whiteboard video. Voomly hosts the file and wraps a funnel around it. The same company makes both, and the right choice depends on whether you already have the footage.

You searched for Voomly vs Doodly because the two names keep coming up together, as if one listing could cover both. Voomly LLC publishes both, and Doodly's footer names that company as the rights holder.

Doodly is the app that draws the explainer on a Mac or PC and exports the file. Voomly is the host you swap in when that file needs a player, an email capture, a branch and an engagement graph. The difference between Voomly and Doodly is which of those two jobs is still open.

If the video is already finished, buy Voomly's hosting and leave the drawing app off the order. If you still have to make whiteboard footage, Doodly is the tool, and the subscription sold on its site includes Voomly Cloud hosting.

Reviewers on Doodly's Trustpilot page say the advertised figure climbs once extras are in the cart, and one of them names a checkout total of $164.

A 2024 comment on r/elearning says Voomly continued billing after the user cancelled. Treat that as a billing complaint, separate from whether the software fits the job.

Quick answer

Pick Voomly if you already have a finished video file and need hosting, interactive funnels, squeeze capture and engagement analytics on that embed; pick Doodly if you need to create whiteboard-style explainer footage and you are buying the current bundle that includes Voomly Cloud hosting.

A third option sits on this page for one reader only. If the file is already a sales letter and the ads have to show which click bought, TrackPlay is the player that posts the cart sale back onto the play.

  • Voomly. The host and the funnel. You upload a finished file, swap in the player, and add email capture, surveys, lockers, branches, graphs and heatmaps. Hosting-only tiers exist for people who already have the file. Reports stop at engagement, so the ad account still only sees a page view.
  • Doodly. The drawing app. Drag-and-drop scenes, an MP4 at the end, and a render path into the Voomly library. The page you buy from today packages that app with hosting and the other creation tools in the suite. Reviewers say the cart total can land above the advertised figure.
  • TrackPlay. The player for a finished sales letter on cold traffic. It ties the verified sale to the play and sends that conversion to the ad account. Whiteboard footage stays in Doodly.

Prices and plan features checked on the vendors' own pages on 16 October 2026. TrackPlay is the direct-response specialist we line these two up against, so it wins the conversion rows and sits out the general-hosting ones.

Strengths and trade-offs

The lists below show what each product is good at, and the limit that comes with it. Voomly's strength is the funnel around a file you already have. Doodly's strength is making that file. The shared regret in the user reports is the bill.

Voomly: what works, what to watch

What works

  • A marketing toolkit at this price: an in-video squeeze player that captures emails, an Interactive Video Closer with surveys, lockers and CTAs, and branching funnels, added by swapping in the player
  • Cheap to start and generous on limits: a free Voomly Light tier, Basic at $9/mo, and unlimited videos and bandwidth from the $19/mo Plus plan up
  • Engagement analytics most cheap hosts skip: engagement graphs, heatmaps and geography, device and browser breakdowns
  • A 4K and HDR ad-free player with custom branding, colours, chapters and timestamps
  • The Cloud plan adds Doodly, Toonly, Talkia, People Builder and Pyks, which helps anyone who also makes whiteboard, cartoon or voiced explainer videos

What to watch

  • Billing and cancellation draw the most complaints: Trustpilot reviewers across 72 reviews report being charged after cancelling and a cancel button that logs them out, and Voomly's own help center says customers currently have two separate places to log in
  • No split test scored on sales and no revenue attribution, so a paid-traffic VSL cannot show which traffic bought; its reports stop at engagement
  • Thin independent proof for the Voomly product itself: the 4.2/5 G2 score spans the whole Voomly family (Doodly, Toonly and the rest), while the Voomly product listing has very few reviews
  • The 14-day trial becomes a paid plan unless you cancel, refunds stop at 30 days, and BBB lists Voomly LLC as not accredited
  • Users report a buggy, unintuitive first-time login and setup, and compatibility gaps with external course tools like LearnDash

Doodly: what works, what to watch

What works

  • Desktop animation for whiteboard, blackboard, glassboard and green screen, with drag-and-drop editing and MP4 export.
  • Doodly can save the finished video straight into the Voomly library.
  • The trial on Doodly's site also includes Toonly, Talkia, Pyks, People Builder and Voomly.

What to watch

  • Playback, embeds and funnels start only after the MP4 is on a host.
  • Doodly's checkout offers the app and hosting as one monthly subscription.
  • Reviewers on doodly.com say the advertised price climbs once extras are added at checkout.
  • Cancellation is handled in Voomly's account area, and the help center says customers currently have two different logins while the company changes platforms.

TrackPlay: the paid-traffic VSL pick

Voomly can host a pitch and Doodly can draw one. Neither posts the cart sale back onto the play, so a media buyer still cannot tell which visit produced the purchase. TrackPlay is a VSL player and analytics platform for that job. One embed drops into the funnel. Sound starts on the first frame when the browser allows it. When the browser blocks sound, the video starts muted and the sound turns on at the first tap, without going back to the start. Retention is drawn per second and split into buyers and non-buyers, with hook rate, hold rate and revenue per play.

The cart sends the verified sale back to the video view that led to it. The report is server to server, and it works with ClickBank, ClickFunnels, Kiwify, BuyGoods, Digistore24, WarriorPlus and JVZoo. TrackPlay fires that conversion to Meta, TikTok and GA4, and it dedupes the browser event against the server event. Split tests stay under one embed, so the ad link does not reset, and the winner is the variant that sold, scored with a z-test, a p-value and a confidence interval. Every feature ships on every paid plan. There is a no-card free plan of 1,000 watermarked plays a month, a 14-day trial of the paid features, and paid plans start at $29 a month.

What works

  • Split tests are decided on the cart-verified sale, with a z-test, a p-value and a confidence interval, and the variants stay under one embed.
  • Server-side conversion events go to Meta, TikTok and GA4 on the watch-time milestone you choose, deduped against the browser pixel.
  • Cart postbacks tie the sale to the play from seven direct-response carts, server to server.
  • Per-second retention separates buyers from non-buyers and reports hook rate, hold rate and revenue per play.
  • Every feature is on every paid plan, billing is by plays, and a no-card free plan includes 1,000 plays a month.

What to watch

  • It is narrow by design: built for paid-traffic VSL conversion, it is not a general video host or a B2B content library, so it has none of the channels, SEO pages or webinar tooling of a Wistia and is a poor fit if the video's job is content marketing rather than a direct-response sale.
  • Very new, with testimonials only on its own site, few independent reviews, and signup currently invite-only, so you cannot rely on third-party proof before you send paid traffic.

Where TrackPlay is not the answer

It is narrow by design. Built for a sales letter on cold traffic, it is not a general video host or a B2B content library, so it has none of the channels, SEO pages or webinar tooling of a Wistia, and it is a poor fit when the video's job is content marketing rather than a direct-response sale. The gap is a content library and webinar tools. A reader who already has the pitch still gets the player, the retention split and the cart postback. The drawing stays in Doodly. TrackPlay is also very new. Testimonials sit on its own site, outside reviews are still thin, and signup asks for an invitation code. That is typical for a platform launched this recently.

Pricing, tier by tier

What you pay depends on which subscription you are buying.

Voomly's help center pairs Doodly Standard with the Cloud plan at $49 a month or $490 a year, and Doodly Enterprise with Pro at $79 a month or $790 a year. Doodly's checkout shows that same monthly Cloud plan on the order summary. Cloud is the tier with 7TB of storage and unlimited video funnels, and it is the first Voomly plan that includes the drawing apps.

The host-only tiers in the Voomly list above leave Doodly off. Use one of those when the file already exists. Move to the Cloud pairing when the explainer still has to be drawn.

Stop a trial in the customer center if it is not earning its place. The refund window and the two login locations are already in the Voomly trade-offs above.

How a Doodly export reaches the Voomly player

Doodly can write the finished animation into the Voomly library as the render completes, which is the path its cloud-rendering post describes. Once the file is in that library, the Voomly player can add the email capture, the closer and the engagement graph.

A local MP4 stays on your computer when you want to upload it to hosting you already pay for. The sales page you reach from Doodly assumes the combined subscription, so the default offer includes both the drawing app and the host.

If you already have an account with another host, keep the MP4 and upload it there. A finished file belongs on a host-only tier, with the drawing app left off the order.

The verdict

Voomly is the pick when the file exists and the missing piece is the player, the email capture and the engagement graph.

Doodly is the pick when the whiteboard footage does not exist yet. The subscription on its site includes the host, so you are deciding whether creation is still the open step.

Neither of them scores a test on the sale. If you are running ads to a pitch and you need the purchase tied to that view, use the player in the section above.

Our pick

Voomly

Voomly wins for the reader who already has the video and needs the funnel around it. Doodly wins when the explainer still has to be drawn, and that purchase includes hosting. Keep the bill in view: the trial continues unless you cancel it, and reviewers for both brands report charges they did not expect.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Doodly without Voomly?
Yes. Export the MP4 and upload it to any host you already use. The offer on Doodly's site packages the app with hosting, so the default checkout is the combined plan.
Does Voomly include Doodly?
On the Cloud and Pro bundles, and on the subscription sold under the Doodly name. The cheaper hosting tiers leave the drawing apps out.
Is Voomly the same product as Doodly?
They share a publisher and they are sold side by side. One plays the file and builds the funnel. The other draws the animation on your computer.
What if I need the sale tied to the ad click?
Then the host and the drawing app both stop short. Look at the player section above, the one that posts the cart sale back onto the play, and pilot it before you move a proven offer.
